How we created our debut Textile Collection.
Our Textile Collection for 2025 is a collaboration with our inaugural charity partner, Awamaki.
Their mission is to help weaving communities in the Peruvian Andes, and we are so honoured to have been given three hand woven fabrics created by women they support in the village of Kelkanka in the Quechuan region.
Whilst we want to use this side of the business to reach out to, and celebrate cultures and communities all across the globe, we also have a responsibility to our planet.
Our development process ensures we are not shipping tons of materials around the world, and instead we pay a fee to the women artisans to license their work.
Awamaki initially sent us a sample piece of the chosen fabrics that we then scanned at an incredibly high resolution. At this point we tested the images on various UK-made bookcloths, to see which most faithfully recreated the artwork and texture of the original textile. Once we settled on the right fit, the files were sent to one of our London suppliers, who digitally printed the image onto said bookcloth.
These then went to our bindery in North London where they were bound and finished, using our in-house designed book blocks, also printed locally.
And don't forget, when you purchase one of these products, an additional £2 will go directly back to those women and their families - in this case, Hermelinda, Jesusa & Saturnina.
With thanks from all of us for your support of this important project. You really are making a difference.
